Isis - Queen of Heaven, Mother of the Gods, Mistress of the House of Life
Isis is perhaps the best known avatar of The Goddess (after Mary and
Kwan-Yin). A central figure in the Egyptian pantheon, she was the child
of Geb, god of the Earth, and Nut, goddess of the Sky, and was the
sister-wife of Osiris, Lord of the Underworld. In the later history of
Egypt she was adopted by the Romans and was eventually worshiped from
India to the British Isles.
She is portrayed here bearing the solar disc, a symbol acquired after the assimilation of the cult of Hathor.
